“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood
puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It
came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he
puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought
of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't
come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit
more.”
~ Dr Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The Tesori Trovati Annual Holiday Sale is on!
I don't do a lot of sales in my Etsy shop but I like to give people the opportunity to get a good deal on their Holiday shopping. It is my gift to you! For being so supportive of me and for encouraging me to try new things. I am where I am because of you.
I am participating in the Artisan Whimsy Market 2012 Holiday Collection. There are 45 shops participating and each has a unique discount code. Plus there are giveaways from all the players, and that totals over $1300 in great gifts!
Here are the codes for my shop:
AWHOLIDAY = 15% off OR FREESHIP = free shipping
Both codes are good until Friday, December 30th in my Etsy Shop.
And be sure to hop on over to Artisan Whimsy and see all the other great offers. You might just get your gift shopping done in record time!
I promised that I would give away something to one lucky random commenter. So I will give away one of my new limited edition Botanical Birds that are now available for purchase in my Etsy shop. These birds are a good size for either a large focal pendant or a beautiful ornament to decorate your home for the holidays. The winner can choose from one of four designs and I will make it and wrap it up in time for all your gift giving needs. Value: $25
Your choices:
Top to bottom:
Holly
Mistletoe
Pine Bough (P.S. Your bird will have feet!)
Poinsettia
Winner will be notified by email on December 1st.
I love your comments and even more so I love to have a conversation with you. In order to win, you MUST have your email turned on in your profile, OR you need to put your email in your comment. I am sorry if that seems miserly to some, but I have to have a way to follow up with you! A good way to tell if you are entered is if I reply to your comment. Any comments without a way to contact you if you win are appreciated, but will not be entered.
Answer the following:
What is the best gift that you have ever received?

The things one must give up for privacy. Your birds are beautiful. It's a shame I can't enter without having a visible email.
Best Gift ever? That's a tough one! I love to give gifts, and I love it when the recipient loves the gift. So, maybe the best gift ever is the time and effort I am giving my parents right now, helping them downsize and move. Is there a better gift than giving your time & love?
These are beautiful!! I'm leaning towards the Holy or the pine cone! alicia (_) coats (@) hot mail (dot) com
My best gift ever? I've got three - my nearly 7 year old (born just before Christmas), my nearly 2 year old (born a couple of weeks after Christmas) and being told my cancer hadn't spread (a few more weeks after my nearly 2 year old was born). Anything else I ever get given will only ever be a bonus!
I love your birds - off to buy one for my Christmas tree :)
I think the best gift ever was the most unexpected and non-material one, it was when my boyfriend surprised me for my birthday and came all the way from France just for that, although he couldn't stay much due to work.
And the drawings he made for me as present.
I value handmade things, art and the element of unexpected -maybe because I rarely have GOOD surprised in my life...
Those birds are fantastic, Erin!!
Although it is more Christmas-y and some would find it harder to wear all year long, I think the first one is my favorite, the contrast with the little red berries (is this how they're called in English?) is gorgeous!!
I'd use it to hang tiny cards from a string, like leaves on a branch, for people that visit during the holidays to leave short wishes.
IF I could resist wearing it, that is!!
:-))
Love to all,
DESPINA

My best gift was having a healthy daughter born in December. 3 years ago, she gave birth to a healthy December baby.

Really the best gift for me is the gift of family. It's at holidays and times of need that I realize this the most.
Thanks for the chance to win one of your beatiful birds! I'm partial to the Holly.
Have a wonderful week!
Your birds are beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win :)
The best gift is this special moment, when we all gather together, the candles on the tree are lightened, just cuddling :)
My best gift ever would have to be the Christmases I have gotten to spend with all three of my Children present. With one away in college, one living in Texas and one here, it was always a difficult thing. I love the birds, especially the pine and poinsettia birds. Thanks! Tracey N

Best gift ever, I think I have two. First, the gift of being born to two loving parents who gifted me with an awesome childhood and still support, love, and forgive me. My second best gift ever is my daughter, even though this parenting thing does drive me nuts a lot of the time.
My best gift ever??
I'm pretty sure in four months I'll say our baby girl. Though right now it would have to be the blessing of my family, they are one gift that I carry with me all year.
Best gift? The love and support of my sister in law when my mom was stricken with cancer and passed away in a very short time. She had been through this with her mom many years prior and knew just how I was feeling on any given day. Love her!
And such beautiful wintery birds! Love them all, but secretly hoping to win the first one with the red berries.
Thanks so much, Erin.

I love these birds Erin, they are so special! Melissa_trudinger at yahoo dot com
Oh and I realised I didn't answer the question either! My best gift ever is of course my children and my wonderful and patient husband. But I have to say, getting a box of jewellery-making tools last year was pretty nice too!
My daughter is the best gift I've ever received, but the best present was a glass bead making class she and her dad gave me one Christmas. It started me down this wonderful path of creative exploration -- and I will forever be grateful for that.

Best gift ever, eh? That's tough. I have a lovely family friends and husband so I'm quite gifted in that respect and they've all been thoughtful over the years too. Speaking material here, my iPhone was the gift that let me have a picture on the day my baby was born so that was pretty handy, yup hubby gets the best gifter crown.
I can't decide on a best gift, but it would be so awesome to win one of this sweet birds.

How about the gift of music, and the gift of a family that understands when I break into unexpected bouts of singing and dancing? However, my birthday is December 1, so being lucky enough to win one of those beautiful birds would be a nice way to celebrate! (How's that for shameless?!?) And I'm such a big sentimental goober -- just reading that quote from the Grinch at the top of your post made me get all misty...
Oh Erin, these are beautiful! My best gift ever was the beautiful bridal dress my mom made for a collectible doll I had one year when finances were very tight. There was another gift my husband gave me that left me speechless -- totally unexpected -- a Journey necklace.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Best gift ever would be my sons. (And then of course, my daughter in law) Couldn't have better children and daughter. (DIL) They all take care of my and my hubby and are very caring. Love your little birds, especially, Holly. I love that little pop of color. One of these days I'll get one of those. :)
I think the best gift I ever received was my two cats, Marduk (Mardigras) and Ishtar (Slinky-Dink, isn't is funny how pets often lose their seriously chosen mames for something much more... fluffy!)
I had been whinging about lack of cats for a while and the Boyfriend got me them as a complete surprise!
I dunno if my e-mail shows on my profile, I'm new to this whole thing. It is tabbiekoshka(at)gmail(dot)com.
Wow .. those are beautiful. I would have to say it is a toss up between the holly and the poinsettia. The poinsettia reminds me of the cardinal, a bird that reminds me of my grandmother.
My best gift ever? I'm not sure about best, but the most surprising was a replica Xena sword my parents gave me one year. Interestingly, they had ordered (and paid for) a letter opener, but the phone operator miskeyed the number. (This was before on line shopping was popular.) The company said they should just keep the sword AND sent the letter opener as well.
I think my most bestest present ever was - Getting to spend X-mas last year with my momma. She had been living in FL for 13 yrs. (we live in IN) Last year she suprised us by sneeking into town and knocking on our door! Talk about SUPRISE!!!!! It was the most amazing x-mas ever!
Thank you for the sale and giveaway! Pretty please count me in!

the best gift? my relationship with God--He is the source of all the good in my life.
I would have to say my baby boy "Ryan" who is now 33 and 250lbs...handsome big construction guy with a kind heart. I am so blessed to have him as I had lost twins at 5 months prior and wasn't sure that I would be able to carry him...But I was fine and he was fine...(8 lbs 10 1/2ozs). So he was the best gift from God ever!!!
I wish he would design with me more often as he is really talented and he designs so differently from me. All of his girl friends always have the best jewelry...LOL
Erin,
I forgot to say how much I like your birdies!!!
my best gift was the marriage proposal I got 5 years ago -hehe, I hope my husband feels the same!!
;-)
Those birds are simply fantastic, please count me in!!!!!

Oh, Erin, you have outdone yourself with these birds!!! I love that little red one! They are all so sweet!
My best gift ever was my baby sister, born Dec. 21st. Oh, I didn't think she was a great gift then! I thought she was a darned PEST! She has been the most generous person with my children because she has none of her own and has been a second mother to them as I struggled to raise them alone. I appreciate her so much.

One year when money was extremely tight, my Husband had been given a bonus at work, an "unexcepted and unknown to me" bonus. On Christmas day he suprised me with a beautiful Mystic Fire Topaz and Gold ring that I had admired. I cried for days and still choke up whenever I wear it. I just kept saying, "you didn't have to do that." He just smiles and says, "I wanted to."
The gift was not the ring its self, but the love and the thought that made the ring so special.

My best gift ever would be my 2 year old daughter, who has been healthy and makes sure I laugh every day.
I also love giving handmade gifts. This year I have made something for everyone, and bought something handmade for everyone.

Your birds are beautiful!
I like your birdies!!!
Like all the other mamas out there, my best gift will always be my "littles." When she was itty bitty, she used to quitely creep into my room in the middle of the night. I would wake up with two very earnest and large eyes an inch from my face. I called her the "night whisperer" because she would always whisper, "Mama, where's my purse?" She always gives me happiness & giggles :)
blessings to all...

Gorgeous work, Erin! I adore the little pinecone bird (bit of a cone-freak here). The very best Christmas present I've received was my engagement ring which my husband had gone and picked out all by himself - boy, was I surprised! He got down on bended knee just like in the movies and asked me if I would be his wife - it was all corny and lovely at the same time.
Erin,
I love your work-I'm just sitting here trying to decide which color of snowflakes I'm going to order :)
Wonderful of you to do the givaway.
I think think the pine bough is my fav.
Best present ever? When my husband put a deposit down so I could have my choice of one of the three horses that were enroute to our trainer. Even though he wasn't sure it was the best way to go, he wanted to make sure I got the one I wanted. How can you not love a man like that ? :) And that chestnut boy-he's been the best!
I adore your designs. I cannot decide which one I like so if I win, you will have to choose! love love love them!
I am not sure what my best gift would be - I love the family time the best. When I think back, I think the rock tumbler I received from my parents when I was about 13yrs old was a stand-out.
The birds are all so lovely - perhaps the poinsettia would be my choice, if I won.
Andrea
My best gift ever would be my husband. I started chatting with him online on Yule of 1999 and we actually met in January of 2000. We have been married for 11 years now.
First I have to tell you that Pine bough is my favorite!
The best gift ever was when my sweet hubs purchase a dressing table with mirror for me. We were quite broke and he was able to get this at a store that was closing. I still use it to this day. 22 years later!!!
Oh and I love it without feet!!! LOL
