But my heart always wants to give in to the decorating and the cookie baking and the festive merrymaking.
The cold {usually}sets in. {Today it was like 50 degrees. Crazy!). There will be flurries forecast {eventually}. When we have our first snow I will make a blizzard of paper snowflakes.
Twinkling lights adorn all the houses up and down our street. Our front porch, with its mini-forest of white light trees is by far the prettiest, of course. ;-)
I created a brand new mantel scape this year that is getting rave reviews from family, friends, neighbors and even a few random service providers. My 14 year old son Rocket even took a look at it, nodded his head approvingly and said, " 's cool." Now THAT is high praise!
I promise that I will share my new creative endeavors soon when the living room gets unearthed and I can get a few pretty pictures. You see, we are having a gift to ourselves put in on Wednesday - a whole wall of cabinetry including two 24" locker cubbies in the laundry room to make it more of a mudroom.
I. CAN. NOT. WAIT!
Once I have claimed my living room, from the pile of shoes, the tangle of backpacks and the leaning tower of school notices, I promise that I will show you.
But for today, we have the annual Art Bead Scene Ornament Hop. Back a few months ago, Miss Heather put a call out to designers on the Art Bead Scene to join us. There are 23 participants spreading their holiday cheer.
I look forward to making a new ornament each year. In fact, that is how I started making jewelry. One year instead of making my usual ornament for all the ladies of the family, I made them all custom mother's bracelets. I thought I was pretty clever using Swarovski crystals and spelling out the names of the children with silver letter beads. Cutting edge stuff, I tell you!
Well, jewelry making stuck. But I still manage to make a new ornament or two each year. And once I started my Simple Truths line it seemed logical that the pendants could be converted to an ornament with nothing more than a ribbon for a hanger. But I quite like to embellish things. So I took two of my popular limited edition Simple Truths Holiday designs and made them into ornaments with a few picks, some wire, a little cursing, a bit of tangled wire, some wire cutters, more wire, and some ribbon.
I started with one of my new Holiday Botanical Birds in the Poinsettia motif.
This is quite like the coloring of my favorite bird (and high school mascot!), the Cardinal. |
The result is a bird, sitting on a branch, nestled in your tree providing the perfect camouflage. |
Next, I pulled out one of my new reindeer ornaments called 'Won't You Guide My Sleigh Tonight?'
Mine had only a ring at the top as I had a defective bezel with a cracked bail at the top. But nothing goes wasted in my studio! I just turned it around before I baked it! |
Please join the rest of the hoppers to see what holiday cheer they have cooked up for you!

Bead Soup Mix
Two absolutely precious ornaments.
Love ,Love,Love your reindeer !
m.e. :)
completely in love with your reindeer and his lovely red nose!
I like the bird.... It would look lovely on a white tree... although I'm very much a real tree or nothing kind of person!
Beautiful, Erin. I'm quite smitten with both but the cardinal really tugs at my heart. They are one of my favorite birds We have a pair here that I see nearly everyday.
I can't decide which I like the most! They are both great!
They're gorgeous! I would love to see an entire tree decorated in your lovely polymer pendants!!!!
They are both wonderful, but I'm partial to the first one! Gorgeous, I agree, it would be great to see a whole tree decorated with your pendants! OR! You could do a garland with them on your fireplace! I want to do that with my sugar beads!
Both ornaments are gorgeous Erin! I especially love the reindeer and how you turned a defective bezel into a beautifully functioning one-brilliant! I also really like his sparkling red nose. Happy holidays!
These two ornaments are so beautiful. I love the bird! What an amazing creation. You've captured the opulence of the season with the rich textures and colors. I can't wait to see your mantle display, I can just imagine it's as gorgeous as these two ornaments. Enjoy your early Christmas gift.
They're super! Fancy shmantzy pretty much says it all :)
Both are absolutely beautiful Miss Erin! Heather is right, opulent is the word to describe them!
Very pretty. I love that little bird.
Beautiful! I love them both!
Erin, these have such a charming Old World beauty, but with a playful twist. I am especially pleased that poor Rudolph managed to catch a break despite the slight "malfunction"!
Rudolph looks like he is strutting so proud! All look old fashioned and need I say again, I love those red birds! Hope you get your remodeling done soon and your living room back to normal. I know what a mess it can be.
Love that cardinal!
I just love the reindeer. I'm wishing for you and your family a very Merry Christmas! XOXOX
They are both adorable but I think the little reindeer is my favorite. He just has so much personality. :)
Love them! Awesome as always!!
Both ornaments are wonderful, and I love your reindeer pendant.
The Cardinal ornament is really nice but the reindeer just grabs my attention. Great job!

Erin, these are quite simply, stunning! I love them! Especially the bird, it's definitely my favourite!!
OMG - these are divine! Love, Love, Love!
Oh the Raindeer is adorable. I had a deer when I was little his mom was killed in an accident. This touches my heart. Such a pretty ornament. Love the cardinal too. Nothing prettier than a red bird sitting in a tree with a touch of snow. beautiful designs. Happy Hopping. Mine was a last minute. Please dont forget me. http://kimisjewelryandgifts.blogspot.com/2012/12/abs-ornament-blog-hop.html
I love both ornaments. Rudolph made me say, "Ahhhh."
Wow, they are gorgeous but what are they made of?
They are sooooooo pretty Erin! I would hang a ton of these all over my tree!!!
These are wonderful! I love the idea of adding a sprig of faux fir and berries to your lovely pendants.
I love your ornaments Erin! I especially love that you added a bright shiny crystal to Rudolph's nose. The big bow is the perfect finishing touch!
Merry Christmas dear friend!~
{Hugs!}
