RAW::Don't Look Back

Right now never happens.
It is receding slowly in my rearview mirror.
And it is flying right at me,
squinting in the glare of my headlights.
I don't look back very often.
There is nothing behind me worth worrying about.
My eyes are forward and my mouth is
shut tight.
I don't want to get bugs in my teeth.

Random Act of Wisdom brought to you by the American Crew collection of hairstyles and product for men found in my beauty salon. Those men who use fancy salon products are a very deep bunch indeed. ;-)

What do you think?

If right now never really happens and it is all whooshing past us, can you ever truly enjoy the ride?

With the new year receding in our rearview mirrors, what moments do you want to remember?

Is there really ever anything 'worth worrying about'?

When you look forward to 2011, what 'bugs' are you hoping will pass you by? What bright lights are you attracted to?

Are men who use a lot of fancy product more deep than those that don't?

Do tell!

Enjoy the day! Happy New Year!

  1. Erin, these are great questions. I copied and pasted them for my answers.

If right now never really happens and it is all whooshing past us, can you ever truly enjoy the ride?

No, you can't enjoy the ride, nor can you feel the joy or the pain of it. Joy and pain are very much part of the ride, and, not matter how hard we try not to feel the pain, we must, because on the other side of pain is joy!

With the new year receding in our rearview mirrors, what moments do you want to remember?
I want to remember the moments of love, laughter and joy! Those moments are the balm for pain.

Is there really ever anything 'worth worrying about'?
No, most likely not, but I do like to be prepared, so what my children consider worry, for me is just preparation. Worry is worry. In most cases it is not productive, but sometimes it does help us to battle the demons of pain.

When you look forward to 2011, what 'bugs' are you hoping will pass you by? What bright lights are you attracted to?

I don't expect bugs to pass me by. I assume they will be stuck on my teeth and I will swallow a few. That's just part of life. It is what it is. The lights I'm attracted to are the creative urges. I hope to have a lot of those in 2011!

  2. I do believe there are many things worth remembering, even bad things. These memories keep us moving forward, give us hope for the future, and remind us we are only human after all. But that is not to say we should dwell overly much over the bad things--but to let them be a reminder to not take for granted the good things that come our way.

  3. Ooooohhh, I'm so ready to work my way into this new year. I definitely want to be more thoughtful--that is, focused and thinking abut what I'm doing and where I'm trying to go. I look forward to your continuted inspiration!! Thanks for sharing!

  4. What did they say? Too busy looking at how pretty they are to notice words. LOL!

I think right now is always happening and it's those that are always thinking about the past or the future or something wonderful coming to an end or waiting for "tomorrow" to doing something they've always wanted to do are perhaps the ones that don't believe in right now...

Worrying? I gave that up a long time ago. It's a waste of energy because most of the things people tend to worry about are out of their control. If it is a situation within my control, I don't worry about it, but rather take action after consideration of possible actions and consequences.

  5. surely with patience and the passage of time, everything seems to shake itself out... worry (of which i am guilty)stresses the mind and body and causes more harm than good...
the ride is made up of a chain of 'nows' - surely it would feel meaningless without the notice of the moments...
    happy new year erin!

  6. No regrets. Well, except for too many days in the sun without sunscreen.

And I want to remember everything, the good and the bad because it's all what makes up a life, my life.

My wise father always used to say to me about worries, "Will you remember this worry 5 years down the road?" I try to remember that, when little niggling thoughts are keeping me awake at night.

I hope all of our health concerns for the past year, disappear. And yes, that big light is calling me and I can feel it pulling me closer and closer. I hope this is my year.

And I like a man who splashes water on his face, might shave, might not and just goes. Product boys tend to have a little too much vanity for me. I don't want a man who uses more product than I do.

  7. Happy New Year Erin,

We all live in the slip-stream of time and sit on the hinge of our personal histories. We choose to bring forward what be believe to be of value and to be worthy of remembering. The Past (Good and the Bad) are remembered because it has helped to make us who we are. Joy and sorrow formed us and forms us still.

My wish for you and all my beady friends is a 2011 worth remembering and cherishing.

    Bead blessed,
    Emanda

  9. Hi Erin, thanks so much for swinging by. Your goals are pretty much what I would like to accomplish this year! I think we'll do it! I think my word for the year is RELAX. What do you think? Now if I could live by it, and stop pushing so hard. Ha ha, like that will happen! Have a wonderful week. You're entered in the contest! Hugs, Riki

  11. I think ALL men who use fancy hair products are very deep, just ask them.

I just take each day as it comes and do my best. I'm open to the Universe. I'm a care giver/navagator of peoples lives so I don't ponder questions like this. Maybe I should

  12. I want to leave behind what I don't need and move foward with what I do. After the incidence with my brother in law I think we all learned what is really important for sure! I will put my best foot foward, give the best of myself and dream big! XO Happy New Year! Patty

  13. You serve some high protein food for thought. I should have read this is the morning when my mind is more in focus. All I can think right now is " Deep is on the inside- not the outside so .. Men who use a lot of products are stuck on the outside. appearances .... never gone for that type myself. Who we really are is deep inside, the wrapper wears with time but the true beauty is there- deep inside.
