I thought about those little children who were likely in the beginning stages of their belief. Santa was likely very real to them. Their wonderment would be palpable at this time of year. And then I thought of my own children. My almost 12-year old finally indicated that she 'knew' all about Santa. Pretty good that the magic lasted as long as it did. But I told her that I still hear the bells, that Santa is alive and very real, if you believe.
Santa isn't just a man in a white beard and red suit that shimmies down the chimney leaving presents one day a year. We have tried to teach our children that Santa lives in our hearts all year long and is not this fictional character but a spirit of compassion and understanding and kindness that comes from the heart.
Operation S.A.N.T.A. - Simple Acts of Niceness To All
I am going to have a page on my blog that I will update as I go with these random acts of S.A.N.T.A. And I invite you to grab my graphic and share it on your site. I have decided to keep the spirit of Santa alive in my heart all year long and to document that here. I invite you to join me.
What a very excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring idea Erin! With all of the horrible things happening in the world today, it is small acts of kindness that remind us that it can be a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea indeed! 'looking forward to your posts, and joining in.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
We too have tried to teach the idea that Santa lives within our hearts all year long. It is a beautiful lesson to pass on.

I will be joining in as well.
Something good has to come out of this terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook.
I love your idea and I will definitely join you!
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can even spread it more and faster: for every act of kindness/niceness done to us, we will do 3 acts of kindness/niceness to others (I saw this once in a wonderful movie).
Love your blog. Love your beads. You're a very talented lady and a great inspiration to me.
This is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI'm very lucky that I have a job that allows me to do this everyday.
